Rear spring and shock disassembly

Jim, the shown in the OP spring compressors are not suitable for the small diameter coils of the XJS.

This is a much better (and SAFER) approach:

"Separation of Shock and (Coil) Spring"

[IMG_0443] Here is a pic of the kit I put together. I think I spent about $10 for the the threaded rods, nuts and washers. Brake rotors compliments of a local tire chain dumpster, with permission of course. Gordon
