Hello Jaguar friends. I just bought a new soft top for my XK8 1997. I intend to fit it myself. The first problem I encounter is releasing the rear window from the top. I would like to ask if there is anyone who has tried this and can guide me so that I do not damage anything around the rear window. Would also like to get hints about removing the old one and installing the new top. More so that I don’t make it more difficult for myself than absolutely necessary.

If its for “just a driver” good luck, if its for show, don’t even try it. I watched as a professional
convertable top installer/manufacturer re-topped my 2001 XK8. It was a sum of money, but
well worth it. The stretching along was an amazement, but well worth it. You must not have a
defogger in your current window. In my mind, this is one of those jobs left to the professionals.
