Could someone with a late MKII take a picture of both front and rear doors. I need to see where the rubber seal is cut, I would assume that it fits only on the glass surface but I don’t know. The early MKIIs have a fuzzy wipe that let water get inside the door.
Also, can the rubber be installed with the window installed?

No, the window with frame needs to be removed.The chrome strip holding the rubber then has to be removed from the door. Installing the rubber seal into the chrome strip is difficult and time consuming. I used soapy water spray and a wood tongue depressor to push the rubber into the strip.
