[s-type] Location of CD changer / hookup in a 2002 Glove box or trunk?

I just bought a 2002 S-Type which apparently doesn’t have a
CD changer installed. The receiver has a ‘‘CD’’ button so I’m
assuming it’s ready for one to be plugged into the cable, my
question is, where is the cable located?
The car manual says the changer should be in the glove box
however the audio manual says the changer should be in trunk.
Thought I’d ask before popping panels!–

2003 model also has the space in the boot (trunk). Left-hand
side drop-down door in the liner which you’ll see in the
owner’s manual. I couldn’t see a connector there but haven’t
checked further.–

Well, has anyone found the connector? Is it going to be
there if I go searching?–

It will be there. Cable tied to the loom to keep it out of the way.
Process is to remove the lower plastic trim aroung the boot lock
area. The long trim that covers the base of the lower boot lock
area. A small number of screws require removal.
Then remove the side trim carpet and you will see the connector.
You can buy the changer bracket from a dealer or make one up (as I
did). I just cut the trim panel (behind the small access flap) to
allow the changer to protrude.
No programming required. Just plug in (assuming you have right
changer) and it will work fine.–

Did you install a factory CD changer or after market one? A
local audio shop told me they could get the factory changer
but it would not play CD-Rs (which would be a BIG problem
for me). Apart from the factory unit they couldn’t match up
anything that would plug directly in, at least not in any
brand they carry.

Also, can you describe the plug I am looking for (color)? I
understand it should be 12 pins, 4x3, but I haven’t been
able to locate it. There were a few plugs not plugged into
anything that I did find that were on the left side, toward
the top by the trunk spring, right behind the little trunk
light (which I had to unhook to get the lining out). Am I
looking in the correct place?–

My 05 car struggles with CDR’s unless they have been written at a slow
speed which makes a big difference. Could you not fit a dension icelink
instead? The later car’s ipod interface is a development of one of these
and plays from USB stick as well as from ipod. Since I got mine I’ve not
played a single CD.
