[Saloon-lovers] 62 Mk 2 Parking Brake Handle Stuck

Any suggestions for freeing the parking shaft assembly on my 62
3.4L Mk 2 would be appreciated. It appears to be stuck near the
base of the handbrake assembly.
What I have done so far to make sure this is where it is frozen:

  • disconnected the brake cable assembly beneath the car
  • removed the shaft housing where the shaft assembly runs through
the trans cover and it is free
  • disconnected the handbrake assembly form the shaft assembly by
    removing the attaching bolt.
I have sprayed penetrating oil in the suspected area and have been
beating on the lever assmbly under the car but am concerened with
    breaking it.
    Thank you,
    Kurt Kingston–

how about leaving it in diesel for a few weeks that works for me.
Then try it wiggle wiggle a few taps with a hammer back in the
diesel, try again later, heat it up a bit wiggle wiggle back in the
diesel eventually it will move.
If you cant remove it, its harder. same approach but with crc
give it heaps try and get it to soak in. wait a while go back do it
a gain try a bit of heat (ie the gas) bit more crc trick is dont
force it be patient.
theres some stuff down the bearing shop for freezing shafts spouse
to shrink them. may help heating and freezing try that be patient
dont force it.–
