[Saloon-lovers] e-bay question

Maybe someone knows how this part is designed to work?

There is not enough info for me.

It looks to me like the ears on the bracket are made to fit the mounting
bushings on the S3 (and others?) XJ6 rack. I guess the ends of the rack will
fit the steering arms on the Mark 2, and the length of the rack is correct.
I guess you have to source the rack – $300-500 without a core, and the PS
pump – $100. I haven’t quite figured out that hose that looks like it’s cut
off.

You are correct, there are a lot of questions.

Hello John,

It looks like a bracket to mount an XJ-6 steering rack, this vendor has been
advertising the same part in Hemmings. After you remove the steering box and
the idler, the bracket bolts to the crossmember through the original holes.
I’ve seen at least four different bracket designs, some inspire confidence,
others look like they might bend at the wrong time. There are pictures of
most of them on the web in one form or another.
