[Saloon-lovers] Emergency Flasher

My 1965 Mk2 3.8 project does not have a 4-way flasher switch.
I see them in parts books & wonder if this was a standard item some
PO removed and if the wiring is there if I want to add it.
Any ideas?
If anyone has a good used unit, let me know.
Thanks in advance,–

Hi Chuck,

I understandthat the 4 way flasher was an option.

I purchased a unit from David Manners in the UK.

Best,

Jaguar Service Bulletin P.41 dated Sept. 1965 states ALL cars for
the US sold for subsequent shipment to the US Will have the 4 way
flasher–further it pictures the correct Lucas part and provides a
wiring schematic.–

here’s a picture of the original Jaguar Hazard Flasher as George
says, and some other modern Hazard Flashers; The one I installed in
my S type, I found at eBay and it was made for a 1965 Corvair,
looks very ‘‘Jaguar’’ IMHO. It was a very simple installation and it
already saved me once when I ran out of gasoline!

Chuck,

installing the Corvair kit was as easy as tapping the two, right
and left turn signal wires leading to the Turn Signal Switch, per
the Install Instructions.

The kit comes with 4 wires but it states that only two wires may
need to be tapped. It came with a very smart gadget to tap into
each of the two Green Jaguar wires, which is also reversible,
leaving no destructive marks or dangers behind, if the kit is
removed later.

This was the quickest mod I did to my S type, compared with the
Third, Top Mounted XJ-6 Brake Lamp which required so many details
to get it right, or the XJ-6 power mirrors and switch, which took
me weeks, or the XJ-6 Vanden Plas Headrests, that one was The
Mother of all mods.

But like TOC’s post, it has been a lot of fun upgrading this car.

Keep checking eBay, the guy sells Corvair parts all the time, very
nice Seller in my experience.
