Listers,
I am seeking some specific advice please. I am setting up to
replace the Burman P/S box from my Mark IX with a Saginaw box
from a 70’s Chevrolet. All else will be original in this
complete ground up restoration, but the Burman box leaks and I
have had it out and back in six times and it still leaks with
only gravity feeding the fluid.
Before you scoff, I have re-manufactured shims (anyone want
some) and used fresh fittings including helicoiling the top
plate to allow tightening the top banjo fitting and fitting a
brand new OEM top gasket (hell of a find). The engineering
advice was that once worn, I would never achieve success
without a hard re-chrome finish on the shaft and then
regrinding it to spec.
So, Steve Kennedy suggested the possibility of the Saginaw box.
What I want to learn is the pressure generated by the Jaguar
P/S pump so I can determine if the Saginaw box will be
adequately pressurized to operate properly.
Can anyone tell me the pressure generated by the Jag pump?
Hoping for answers.
