Scraping in upper steering column

I seem to be the problem child lately…

I have a higher-pitched scraping/scratching sound when I turn the steering wheel. It sounds like it is coming from right up top, near where the stalk goes in. I cannot feel anything, and the car steers and drives fine.

What is inside there that could make that sound, and how do I get to it? Pics would be great.

I’ve perused the parts book and I don’t see any sort of upper steering column bearing or bushing, but there must be one, no? I will check the ROM next…

Quite possibly the horn ring and the horn contacts rubbing on it as the steering wheel is turned

It could be the plastic cover rubbing at the big steering wheel adjustment ring.
Remove the cover, it will be much easier to investigate.
The horn contact as mentioned is not a bad thought.
