Series 2 Alternator Help

So I’m working on a Series 2 that came to me with a new 60a alternator, installed but not wired. Fairly certain I have it wired right now, but it’s not charging, tested at the battery. I’d like to check the output at the alternator, to eliminate a possible wiring issue, can someone tell me how? Or point me in a better direction as often happens here.

There are numerous obvious wiring (and other!) bodges here.
Also the needle on the ammeter does not appear to move at all, and no ignition light (haven’t checked the lamp itself yet)

Thanks, Alan

Alan,

If you have an ammeter on a Series 2 you definitely have a non-standard system. A good source for troubleshooting the charging circuit is the coolcat website www.coolcatcorp.com/faq

Well no, it’s a voltmeter after all. I’m not real swift on the electrical side.
I was aware of the Cool Cat info, but gave it a second look on your recommendation, and it was most helpful.

Many thanks to you David, and of course to Cool Cat
