Shifting knob on a x type 2002

Is there any lubricant for the inner shifting knob, it takes a lot of
activity some times ?

You are trying to remove it or it’s hard for you to switch gears on automatic gearbox?

I did’nt mean I need a new shifting rod, I was curious about lubricating
those contacts for the shifting rod, nothing lasts forever.
