Starting carburetor leaks gas

1964 3.4 Mk2.
Hi ,
My starting carb leaks gas from the 2 openings on either side of the covered aperture behind the metering needle.
I can see gas sitting about 3/8” below the top of those tubes.
The float needle is properly adjusted at 7/16” on the front carburetor.
The car runs great.
Any ideas why the starting carb would always drip a little?
I’ m concerned having an engine fire…!
Thanks for your help.

A quick search brought this up as the first hit. There are many others:

Thanks Mike!
Sure enough, the answer was in one of these posts.
The vent pipe on top of the float bowl was completely clogged.
This forced gas into the starting carb as the float bowl filled up, overflowing from the outer pipes.
All good now.
Best regards.
