Stuck in Vallet Mode and No Trunk Lights

Hi Guys. My service shop left my 2000 xk8 in vallet mode. After trying all the usual tips (black key in door), I can’t get the trunk to open from the inside dash switch. If I press the internal dash switch, it just flashes vallet mode. I can open it the trunk just fine with the secret keyhole and my remote. The gas cap opens fine from its dash switch.
The other thing I noticed is that the lights in the trunk don’t come on when the boot is open. Thoughts?

Donna:

You need to post this on the “modern” XK Forum, this one is for the early XK120, 40 and 50 cars.

So sorry. I’m new to the site. I would delete it if I knew how.

There is a switch inside the glove compartment to change that.

I have moved the post to the correct forum.
Donna, to modify a post there should be a pen icon lower right corner, there are also 3 dots where there are other options.

The ‘boot open’ microswitch NEEDS to be triggered and the BODY PROCESSOR needs to know this to disable VALET MODE.

Pull the covers off the latch assy and diagnose the circuit.
I have had to ‘jump’ the switch wires to disable VALET MODE and then replace the switch.(they do fail)
