Teves system combined pressure switch

In the morning when the accumulator has lost all pressure it takes about 2 minutes before the pressure switch tells the pump to start. After full pressure is reached and the pump stops running it takes five or six brake applications before the pump kicks in again.
My question is, is the delay in the pump turning on in the morning typical?

Not on my car Syd - Abs light goes out before I’ve got time to fasten my seatbelt.

Hi Syd,
I don’t know if I can help, cause this diabolic Teves system is killing me too; but, one mechanic told me that the problem may be in the abs sensor.

Hi Mathilda,
What is the abs sensor?
My switch only comes no first thing in the morning, operates the pump,
after a wait of a couple of minutes and some times longer. I have also
given it a tap with the hammer when it takes longer than a couple of
minutes, which seems to work. During the day it operates OK!
Syd.

I am sending you image 4 the abs sensor

Ahem … that is the combined pressure warning switch (CPWS) not an ABS sensor.

This in an ABS sensor -

Hi Mathilda,
I fail to see what a speed sensor has to do with brake system pressure when
the car is stationary? Have you been in touch with Bryan Naish concerning
this problem because I have also corresponded with him on the subject and
speed sensor never came up. I have tried several used pressure warning
switches, the one I have now being the best but not perfect. It never seems
to recognize low pressure first thing in the morning. I would be interested
in Bryan’s comments relating to the speed sensor/pressure switch
connection.
Where are you located and what model Jag do you have? I have a '91 with
close to 200k on it and a '95 with 160k. The '91 runs very well apart from
the pressure switch but the '95 has a random misfire that is preventing it
passing the smog test.

Hi Mathilda,
Did you get my message of May 5? I would be interested in your reply.
Syd.

Hi Syd,
I have xj 40 1991.
Concerning the speed sensor I did not solve the issue yet; but, Bryan is trying to help me with some diagnostics.
I will keep you updated and I hope you will too if any progress in the matter occurred.

Hi Mathilda,
My present switch is not perfect in that it takes a minute or two to activate the pump but by the time I am out of the garage it usually is in operation. The first stop after backing out is some times a little hairy if the “minute or two” isn’t up! The rest of the day it works fine. I hope you are able to find one that works.
Syd.

Hi Syd,
Still struggling with my abs, problem not solved. High probability that the sensor is defected.
Do you know any tests I can do to be sure if the sensor is defected? Because it is very hard to find a similar sensor even used one.
Finally, do you know if there is any equivalent for the sensor in other cars brand?
Thanks
