TOP Speed

Hiya List…

I was just going through my old XJ40 books and I read an
article/interview with Jim Randle (Chief Engineer at Jag during the XJ40
project) anyways we’ve all been talkibng about taking the Jag to the top
speed etc. Well according to Jim Randle the critical speed (the speed
that the XJ6 can reach if it had enough horsepower and still be stable
and drivable) is 206mph… So there you go for all of you who always
wanted to take your Jag to top speed but was always scared

According to my '92 Handbook the 4.0 with the ZF 4 HP 24 transmission in top
gear( 4th gear) does 29 mph for every 1000 rpm so that calculates out to 159.5
mph @ 5500rpm.
So if I can get this thing out of “limp home” mode I may try it out.
