The console software on my 2008 XKR sometimes freezes and the authorised jag service center advises a software update is available that would fix the problem. However sometimes the software update destroys the module. If this happened then I would be up for a new module costing about $3,500 plus fitting.
Has anyone experienced this problem, as I am reluctant to update the software with this possibility

Had the software updated on our 2012 XK convertible under warranty . No adverse affects .
