[v12-engine] 1985 XJS -- twin super-charged

Gents:
I think I’ve read somewhere on this forum about someone who
supercharged his XJS.

Well, a twin super-charged car (same?) has appeared on CL
(Manhattan, NY). I am not the seller or affiliated with
that person in any way:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/cto/4726597747.html

What caught my attention is the claim ‘‘over $150,000
invested in this car’’. Don’t know if this is true, or how
many HP does the engine produce.

Given that recently we’ve seen a spike in topics discussing
how to squeeze more power out of the V12, I’d be curious to
hear what the gurus have to say. Has anyone seen this beast
up close? Is the builder someone we know/have heard of from
on here?

If the over $150,000 figure is somewhat true, that goes to
confirm what manny have argued here – power does not come
cheap.

Anyhow, I am looking at the picture of the engine, 3 (or 6)
coils, fuel rail, intakes…makes one drool.

Cheers,
Steve–

I have a friend who has financed a couple of interesting cars.
First is an XK180 Hand built copy of the famous Sex Kitten XK180 based
on an XJS platform by Tempero Motors.

Second if available at this link.

http://www.linkecu.com/newsfromlink/2012-xk120-revisited

It is a hand built race car running a Bill White quad turbo V12 last
dyno was close to 1000 HP.
I have heard it run and it makes the hairs on you neck stand up .
Serious sound but stay well away from exhaust. It breaths flames to
about a metre on overrun.
The body is interesting. The patron had just has his XK120 fully
restored anf the builder liked the loom of it and wondered if they could
make some plaster moulds of the body. The patron said sure but can we
just do one side in case we ruin the body. All went well with no damage
to the XK120.
When I asked what class it would run in the answer was we don’t care
just wanted to build something crazy.
Don’t you love people like that.

Bradley Smith built this car and brought it to one of the Jag-Lovers picnics
I hosted. He also had a Plexiglas bonnet for it, for obvious reasons.
Unfortunately Bradley is no longer with us. We were wondering what became
of it. If it still runs that seems like a very low price.

In reply to a message from Mike Eck sent Thu 23 Oct 2014:

Cool car! I have no doubt it racked up $150k. It’s interesting he
went with the HE heads. The blowers will get the air in, but the
HE still resticts the exhaust going out.–
