Where does this flywheel spacer go?

I’m in doubt whether the spacer should go between flywheel and crank or should it just be a washer for the bolts. Or maybe discard ? Then the lock plate would keep the dowels in, otherwise they may back-off via spacer holes by some 2mm (of spacer thickness) ?

I do not recall a manual transmission flywheel ever having a spacer behind it.

What is it out of? Did you take it apart? Do we know for certain that plate came with that flywheel? I’m with @Wiggles, I’ve never seen anyone put a shim plate between a flywheel and the crankshaft, and I don’t know what purpose it would serve in conjunction with the lock plate.

Guys, You’re right ! This was an automatic, that’s why it does look odd here. It must have been somewhere with the converter and 3 years on I no longer remember nor pictures do. Good that old dowels and bolts seem to fit.

THAT plate is for an automatic trans. Do not use it for a manual trans flywheel!
