[x300] "Fuzzy" cloudy Headlamp lenses

Busted through Modern and X300 archives to no avail. Does anyone
else out there have headlamp lenses with dermatological issues?
Mine have what feels like tiny raised blemishes that add up to a
very hazy look when illuminated. I have tried one of those green
kitchen scrubbies with various cleaners. I tried some 320 grit on
one tiny section to see what happens (nothing). Nothing I have
tried seems to worsen or better the situation. Which would tend to
indicate that it is no easy fix. You know if you can’t make
something worse on a Jag by throwing your collected mass of
brains and brawn (and fancy chemicals and/or tools) at it, you are
in trouble. It’s almost as if the glass is deteriorating. Both std
and high beams are afflicted.

Any and all help appreciated. TJK–

I think it’s just the accumulation of road grit damage to the glass, the
headlights on my XJR are the same. European automotive glass seems very soft
compared to American. The raised portions may be all that’s left of the
original surface! Probably doesn’t greatly affect the illumination you get.
If you want to polish glass, find a friend who’s an amateur astronomer for
some advice. Or you could go with the BMW replacement lamps…
