[x300] Jaguar Voice

I have just bought a 2004 X350. I understand that it is
possible to talk to the car and it should respond. According
to the instruction book you press a button on the steering
wheel, the car then beeps and you speak.
When I press the button on the steering wheel the car does
not beep. If I then speak anyway nothing happens.
Any ideas how to resolve this? Is this a feature that can be
switched on and off? If so how do I switch it back on?–

David,

Jaguar voice is not standard on all 2004 cars. You need to
verify if it was fitted to your car ( sounds not). It can
be retrofitted but IMO, it’s not worth the cost and effort.

The car is an XJR with the touch screen TV for the radio/
satnav/ phone etc. It has a handbook for Jaguar Voice so I
assumed it was standard on the XJR with the touch screen.
If it is not is there a way of checking if it is there but
not working?–

Ross, sometimes the English do have trouble coming to grips with
the American accent or, try saying something interesting:-)>–

Gary,
My VDP talks to me all the time.
I turn on the NAV just to hear her talk, even tho she can’t find my
way home and most of the time can’t find anything ;-‘’(
Betwen the English accent and the places that I would never have
seen if I had not followed her, downright entertaining ;-‘’)

If Dazza wants a really lively drive in language he’ll
understand, perhaps he should get the voices of John
Cleese or Ossie Osbourne, they’ll keep him on course!–

David,

I would start by looking in the boot module stack to see if
the voice activation module is mounted there.
