[x300] Need to replace speakers, please HELP

I have a 1996, XJ6 with the factory stereo and speakers. The door
speakers are totally blown and sound terrible. I would like to
replace just the door speakers. I took a door panel off, and I can
easily fit a 6.5 to replace these. My question is: do I buy a mid-
range bass speaker for all 4 doors, or do I buy a regular two-way
or three-way 6.5 speaker? I have two factory tweeters in the dash
and two in the rear shelf. Wouldn’t regular two/three way speakers
provide to many ‘highs’ ??? Any suggestions on what to buy and
specifically what brand would be fantastic.

thanks so much

You could use all range speakers, the built in crossover in
the radio will simply not drive the higher frequency cones
in them. Has the advantage of a truly huge number of
options and price ranges.

My solution for my '97 were Kenwood component speakers.
Without the secondary (or secondary and tirtiary) cones in
the center of the primary cone, they were a easy fit to the
OEM grills and sound so much better than what was left of
the originals.–

Brian,

You might want to look into Boston Acoustic speakers. If I ever
replace the Alpines in my Jag, they would be seriously considered
because of the exceptional sound quality.

I’ve replaced Alpines to DLS in my X308
http://www.dls.se/en/car/prod.html?produkt=en_70

It sounds much much better even with Jaguar OE radio/amplifier

I recommend you to change to component speakers and use crossovers.
In x308 in front in premium system there is built-in crossover in
amplifier, but in rear doors tweters had just capacitor what cuts
low frequencies. I’ve tested it with crossover from DLS box - there
is noticable improvement in mid-low sound–
