[x300] Pen in the defroster

This is a real stupid one. Had a pen on the dash, whoops down the
defroster opening. Now I have a little rattle. I would like to
remove but I really would not want to make a big deal. Any ideas
besides a stick with some gum.

Lee,
I’ve seen a snake like gadget that has spring loaded fingers that are
good for reaching dropped screws, etc. Maybe find one at an auto parts place?

Lee, I have that’‘snake like’’ gadget with the steel little fingers.
It should pull the pen out nicely. If you want, I would be happy to
loan it to you. I can mail it. You can send it back when mission is
accomplished.
Let me know via email.–

The center section of the defroster grillle (with the round sensor)
is held in by friction. Once out, you will see one small screw on
the inboard end of each grille. Remove the screw and lift it out.
This should give you good access to the innards.–
