[x300] security locking module replacement

Re 99 daimler, 4ltr v8.
Having to replace the security locking module I assume the
remote entry fob would need to be re programmed, does any
one know if there is anything else involved apart from the
physical exchange of modules?
Thanks in advance for any advice–

I have only one suggestion.

Pay attention to the VCATS suffix (the last 3 digits).

Jaguar issued TSB 418-03am dated 4-98 that explains most of
what you need to know about programmable modules.

You should be good to go.

Hi Bob,

I’m about to do this job on my XK8. What is the VCATS number and where do I find it? Also is it possible to get a copy of the TSB 418-03am?

First you need to understand that there are several iterations of the Jaguar XK8. You do not specify the MAKE,MODEL,YEAR so I will not comment on the procedure. The TSB is VIN specific and later cars will have different modules for the security and locking functions.

I gave Gus (jagrepair dot com) all the TSBs I have in .pdf. I have hundreds on paper that Jaguar never offered in electronic format.

A simple internet search for Jaguar TSB 418-03am yielded a link to Gus’s site and the TSB.

If you car is VIN A30645 or later then the TSB is likely of no use to you.
Later cars use a different network and modules.

Bob,

Thank you for this. My VIN is 26630 so I’ll do the search as you suggest.

I’ll report back on my progress

Many Thanks
