[x300] Speedo markings (in Australia?)?

Still trying to get to the bottom of this. Some X308 models
(perhaps only in Australia) have on their speedos as well
as the normal makings, additional square white markings
coinciding with various speed limits in Australia. It looks
as though these were only on 3.2 litre versions of the car.
Has anyone got those markings on their speedos or can throw
any light on this?–

Alan, I think I said earlier if not in answer to your posts,
that I think this may be an almost unique Oz Thing as I
remember that back in the 80’s or 90’s many of the Hire cars
that I drove had audible warnings that could be preset to
the various speed limits in the States and which were
rigorously enforced and at the time I did wonder if they
were mandatory as were Daylight Running Lights.

This may be your answer and the reason you aren’t getting
responses, certainly there aren’t any on my current X300
3.2, although I can’t recall if that was also the case on my
'98 X308.

And don’t go hard on the Old Speckled Hen as the Booze Buses
also abound, as I know from driving back after a long day in
the Blue Mountains having had a couple of pints of Guiness
and then running into a Roadblock, was clear though even
with you higher limits (lower pass level)!–
