[x300] Turn Signal?

I was wondering how to turn the sound of the turn signal in my 99
xj8? The other day I hit something and the turn signal work without
the sound. I’m wondering is there a botton I can press to make the
sound turn off? Thanks–

I have never heard that there was any way of turning the
‘‘turn signal click’’ on or off. I suspect that the speaker
(on the steering column I think) has stopped working.

On older cars the ‘‘click’’ you hear comes from the flasher
unit rather like a relay. Since the Jaguar is a very refined
car it has nothing so primitive to make this noise, so has a
small speaker to let you know that your turn signal is flashing.

nope the speakers work. It weird the sound was off for a while and
the turn signals work but now the sound is back. I actually dont
like the clicking sound of the turn signal if I can turn it off I
would rather.–

I didn’t say ‘‘speakers’’, I said ‘‘speaker’’. There is a
dedicated speaker (just one) that provides this click.

It is located somewhere in the steering column, and provides
the audible warning for driver door open (side lights on,
key in), key in ignition, transmission not in park, driver
seat belt, memory set, and direction indicators/hazard.

It cannot be switched on or off, and the volume cannot be
altered. If you lose the turn signal click I bet you will
have also lost the other warning chimes listed above. If it
turns out that it is only the turn signal click that is
missing, then I would have to suspect a faulty body
processor module, since it is this which controls the speaker.
