I just joined this list but have other jags. I just got a 1970 XJ6 4.2 and
had a fuel system question. I wonder if this car has a return circuit like
my E-Type and my old SII XJ 12 had. This car has not run in a while and I
would like to see if it runs by taking a pump inlet and drawing from a gas
can. I don’t know if this will return fuel to a tank or not.
I do not believe any 70 XJ6 was fitted with a return fuel circuit. I’ve run
my car with a can of gas gravity feeding the twin carburetors. I mention
“gravity” because your post speaks of “drawing” from a gas can. It may be
just a poor choice of words, but the I don’t think there’s a vacuum effect
on the gas line.

Lou

Believe that only the fuel injected cars had a return line. No need
with carbs for this line.
