[xj] 85XJ 6: Changing the Thermostat

I’m not getting heat in my XJ6 and, since the coolant level is fine, I’m
assuming that it is a faulty thermostat. I have a new one (190 degrees),
and it seems like an easy enough fix (having done them on other cars–but,
of course, the Jag is not another car). But Gregory Wells at Coventry
West cautioned that the bolts that hold the housing tend to seize and
easily break. Question: what is the advisability of heating the housing
prior to trying to remove the bolts to minimize the possibility of a seized
bolt? Any other tips?
Thanks!
