Very nice. It’s things like this that lead to, gotta clean up this
and soforth!!

Perhaps some Gyptol in the cam chambers top allow a quick return of
oil to the sump.

Also, is the head ‘‘staked’’? I trust all threaded orifices have been
chased and are clean to avod broken bolts and stuff.

Looks like a very nice valve job. New seals on all, I hope!

Now comes the funof lifting that moster into place and getting the
cam timng correct. Oh, also, discerning what to do with all the
opinions on wet v. dry studs!

Enjoy!

Very nice Lou, did they stake the tappet guides?

FYI, here’s the Cov. West product (pics 3-5)…

I did spray the final assembly with hi-temp aluminum, because I wanted the
stud nuts the same, but the bead-blasted finish is certainly adequate.–

I entered my beautifully restored 1984 XJ6 Vanden Plas in today’s 43th
Annual JCNA sanctioned San Diego Jaguar Club Concours d’Elegance and won
first place in the Driven Division Class (D6).

It was a fabulous day and several Jag-Lovers XJ6 listers were there to
enjoy the event.

Thanks to all that have helped me with my various servicing, maintenance
and restoration work over the past 6 1/2 years since I purchased this
car and joined Jag-Lovers. It really paid off.

I will post picture on Jag-Lovers later this week to show how wonderful
the car looked. Due to business commitments I will be unable to post
them until the end of this week.

BTW, I planned to enter the Champion Division Class (C12) but that will
have to wait as I still have a lot of work to do in the engine bay and
trunk.

Paul M. Novak

Dave,

Get some hi-temp aluminum spray, clean the head with acetone, then mask
anything you don’t want the spray on and have at it. The same can be done
with the domed stud nuts. Just bake 'em in the oven and use some paper
towelling around them before putting a socket wrench on them. Oil them, of
course!–
