[xj] a word on Daimler/VDP

Come on we need something more civilized and practical than that. Anyway I
suffer from night blindness so you would have a distinct advantage over me.

Andy,
We also have a black ‘‘base Model Jaguar XJ6’’ that is
definitely ‘‘Tarted’’ with the stainless wing trims, limo tinted
windows, and Dayton chrome wire wheels that the PO added and the
front mini-leaper plate, PURRRRR rear license plate, and leopard
print fuzzy dice that we added. I don’t have the Jaguar mud flaps
on yet, but it will eventually sport those too and ‘‘upgrades’’ will
be the new dash and a needed headliner.
The interesting thing is that this tart draws much more attention
and more admiring comments from the general public than our steel
metalic 86 Daimler Double six with every available OEM option.
Except, that is, at British car shows where the Jaguar initiated
recognize the Daimler’s understated grace.
It’s all in the eye of the beholder; any series III is so much
more pleasing to the eye than any other four door saloon before or
since, that the difference among models is moot to most casual
observers.–

Ouch! As the owner of a base model Jaguar XJ6 that has since had
much of a Daimler Double Six interior, including seats, retrofitted
I’d prefer ‘upgraded’ to tarted!
I’m planning to change the original steel wheels for pepperpots
soon too.
Listers may be pleased to note that I will not be adding fluffy
dice and under car lighting to the changes.
None the less my car retains it’s original badging, i.e. ‘Jaguar’
and ‘XJ6 4.2’ at the rear. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Regards,

Phil: regarding your tarted-up black car and the admiring comments: do
you get these comments mostly at night, in downtown areas, as you cruise
slowly near the curb? And, at the time, are you wearing a white suit,
open-necked shirt, lots of gold chains around your neck? Do you run a
small person-oriented business?

Fazel, I have a good friend in the DLOC-NA who enjoys Canadian
baiting, but I have never personally tossed a dwarf.

And Gregory, no gold chains, and it is usually daylight. You can
check the tart at http://www.jag-lovers.org/snaps/snap_view.php3?

While, as the country song goes, I do like my women a little on the
trashy side, marriage seems to bring out her respectible side–

Come, come, Doctor. As any linguist (cunning or otherwise) would know, we in
Australia speak ‘Strine’.

No. Prostitution. “small person-oriented” not “small-person oriented”.
Don’t they teach English in Australia?

You heard about the guy that said he discovered true love only after he got
married - but by then it was too late?

Mines is from South Africa ,I believe that all European cars were from SA South Africa was a major production country for a lot of cars so made in SA / ZA see stamps… “SP2165 BW” = (Vanden Plas number 2165 with Borg Warner gearbox) shown on the plate which is just a strip of whatever is hand stamped but is the mark of a VDP built in 1978 …so before vin numbers were commonly used to identify cars…Chassis number has fewer numbers letters than later models. Without knowing Id say there are two sets of numbers one twin set SA and ZA is South Africa and one twin set 2P and 5P is UK so maybe when it arrived here in UK it got stamped …If I’m wrong then I’m sure an expert will put it right again …
