[xj] Another Question on XJ Coil

@RERON25

Greetings,

I guess everyone is tired of these coil questions and that is why I am not
getting an answer, but I thought I might try again.

I bought a unipart coil from one of the local auto parts dealers because the
original was leaking. I think the part cost about $32.00.

Installed it and used the ballast resistor from the old coil. Seems to work
perfectly, but the question is am I going to have problems down the road?
(kind of a pun).

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

RON,
I don’t think you’ll have any problems. We were talking about coils the
other day on the list and somebody (Gregory ?) had stated that if you order
a Jag coil you get a “Unipart” coil with a “Ducellier” decal over the
original label. This assumes, of course, that you got the correct
Unipart coil for your application. I’ve been running a non-OEM Lucas coil
for about 8K miles with no apparent ill effect.

I’m running an Accel afternarket through the same ballast as the old one, but then I’m
running an xj12 with the crane cams x700 electronic ignition…-art-
