Damienne: the latch is not part of a rocket ship, and there is no mystery to
it. Just examine it to see why it is not secure. Quite possibly the inner
latch bar is loose, and the screws need to be tightened, or perhaps the bar
is misaligned (and the lock is UNlocked, correct?).

Subject: [xj] Glove (Cubby) Box Latch
Greetings, JagLovers!
Yes, I did check the archives for this one…
My glove box keeps falling open upon acceleration.
How do I mend the latch?
Sorry to be a little off subject, but what key do you use to lock the Glove / Cubby box?
None of mine work and once I find out which one it is I can safely check out the lock. Or
have the matching key re-cut to specification.

I don’t really lock my glovebox, but it’s the same key you use to lock and
unlock the doors. (the short stubby one) You stick it in and twist one-half
turn.

I guess my DPO Hooned my keys! I have two one for the door / ignition and one
for the trunk / gas cap. I’ve tried my door / ignition key it didn’t work and I
also tried my trunk / gas cap key. I guess it’s off to the locksmith for a third
key!
