[xj] Hood/Bonnet cable snapped

Marcus: you can replace this quite easily. You do not need to replace
the handle; you can either order the cables from Jaguar (see below) or
you can use bicycle brake cable which has the ferrule on the end. The
ferule catches in a slot on the handle. It is then threaded through the
cable sleeve to come out at the latch end where it is held by a
screw-ferrule.
The Jaguar part number for the passenger side cable is BD33311. For the
driver’s side it is BD33310.

Subject: [xj] Hood/Bonnet cable snapped

Hello,

I looked in the archives, but didn’t find much on how others have solved
this problem. Must I replace the whole cable? If so, how does it attach
to
the pull handle in the interior. When I looked at the pull handle, I saw
two “bobbed” metal wires…one for each hood latch. Will I have to
replace
both hood release cables and the pull handle?

Thanks in advance,

Marcus
