[xj] How do you remove the cat head from front grill

Just wondering what is the best way to remove the cat head badge
from the front grill on my xj6 3, I have bought a new one as mine
is damaged ? Cheers–

Hi, First you have to remove the front grill itself as the emblem
holder is fixed in from behind.
The emblem holder has three pegs which pass through holes in the
grill and have a spring washer pressed on from the rear.
The ‘washers’ have to be removed carefully as the cast pegs are
thin and delicate. If you try to pry them off, the pegs break.
I’ve gently used a hacksaw to cut into the edge of those washers so
that they open down one side.
You’ll see what I’m describing once the grill is away.
You will need new clips/washers to refit the emblem.

Regards,

Andy–

I’ve had good luck using a small screwdriver, ice pick, or scratch awl to
bend the gripping tabs of those kind of spring washers.
