A few days ago I was drooling over a website from a US
powerhouse that sells tuned cylinderheads for XK engines,
claiming 100bhp increases once they work their magic. I am
certain I found the link to this site somewhere here, but I
lost it. Does this ring a bell to anyone? Thanks.–

Do you remember any other details, Eric? Terry’s is the only one I recall
that had a fairly straightforward swap like the Cat’s claw head, giving the
XK that sort of jump in power. There were some other performance oriented
shops, as well, but I can’t think of any specific 100 hp upgrade. I recall
one shop that used to be called Predator Racing that did lots of
modifications that might be along those lines but I doubt they’d be really
streetable mods:
and I seem to remember a company out of Ohio that was doing some racing as
well and maybe could make that sort of improvement in horsepower. Of course,
there’s also XKs Unlimited in your (now) native Califorina but I don’t know
if they had any sort of easy 100 hp improvement on offer for a street
vehicle.
Good luck with the search and let us know if you remember the site.

Likely because it isn’t one, Mike…
While it certainly is possible to push the xk towards 300 hp in
‘streetable’ form it would requires some pretty comprehensive rework - a
single issue modification won’t wash…

In reply to a message from Mike Kennedy sent Sat 22 May 2010:
Thanks for this folks. I am not really chasing the elusive
silver bullet, just frustrated to have a lost a website that
looked interesting…
Just to give some context, I have run out of easy options to
solve my rackety head and rough idle. It seems that I now
need to take it off and see what is going on for good.
I have a spare engine (the original one) in the garage and I
was thinking of going the best route and ‘‘simply’’ sending
the spare head to some specialist shop to have it redone and
possibly ‘‘upgraded’’.
Jaguarspecialities is just down the road, XKsUnlimited is a
fair drive away etc…–
