[xj] New List Participant

Vickers Kerry <@Kerry_L_Vickers>

Hello to all,
I’ve been watching the XJ list for about 6 months and thought it was time I
participated. I’ve read through all the archived XJ lists and have to tell
you that besides being a wealth of information, they have evolved like a
growing family. People have passed away, children have been born, others
have gone from puberty to adulthood, and many listers have come and gone.
And quite a few jags have been saved from sitting in a junkyard waiting
room!
Anyway, about my Jag. A Fed 1987 (manufactured 6/86), series III, VdP, 80k
miles, living in Charleston SC. And no rust around the windscreen, Gregory!
Although it is in very good condition, I have been trying to get it back to
the original condition as it was in 1987. It has had only two POs, the last
owning it only 16 months. The interior was in excellent condition but a
little faded, so I have redyed it the original color. I am about to do the
wood. I will be replacing the wire wheels net week (beautiful, but a
different ride every day depending on the temperature!) with teardrop wheels
from a xjs. I have also gone through the tire ordeal and ended up getting
Michelin MXV4s - very happy with them. I have ordered parts from many of the
US webb companies with varying results, mostly good. My comments are
available off-line. This is my second british auto so I’m not scared!
Hope I will be able to contribute to the list as subjects arise that I have
experience. Thanks to all the XJ List members as you have enhanced the
already pleasant experience of owning a Jag.

Doug,
Vin is SAJAY1348HC469852. I’ve owned it since 12/99. It seems to have all
the later improvements that have been bantered about on the List, including
decent paint and wood on the shift panel (console). Would be interested to
know where it falls in the 1987 production scheme.
