[xj] o2

some time digging thru records and found the equivalency chart
showed a Borg Warner model as comaptible. Trouble is, mine is a
3 wire system, the ‘compatible replacement’ is the 1-wire unit.
From what I understand, the 3-wire has 2 wires for a heating unit
in the sensor, and 1 wire for the data wire. The 1-wire setup
only has the data wire. Is this correct? and more importantly,
is there a functional difference.

Last question, is there another after market equivalent?

Thanks

You may want to try Greg Price at All XJ’s. Alternatively British Parts
NW advertises the 3-wire O2 for $ 66.00 US ( 503 864 2001 ). You may
find NAPA has the sensor. They do carry the single wire. You are correct
that the additional two wires heat the sensor. This allows the sensor to
supply its’ information more rapidly to the ECU from cold start. I’m
assuming that you are in the US somewhere. Usual disclaimer in regards
to association with any of the businesses mentioned. Be sure to use
anti-sieze compound when installing the new piece.

Have Fun,

Paul, then it sounds like the 3-wire unit still uses the exhaust for an
unreliable ground, eh?
