[xj-s] 4L80E Gearbox Reading ERROR CODES by LIGHT FLASHING Help?

Hi , I have just added the wire to pin A8 on the TCM and the light
flashes when shorted for a split second What does all these
flashes mean ? are these all stored errors including the latest
code. Is the fist code the latest ? Do you add any together ?

Any links to reading the errors as the jag manual does not list
flash codes. Can the codes be cleared by shorting a pin out ?

I suspect the gearbox loom as my XJR6 was cured by the loom but
would like to do some tests first. Any help please with thanks in
advance 1994 XJS V12 6.0L

I get 8 flash
then 5
then 1
then 2
then 1
then 2
then 6
then 1
then 2.–

The codes are as follows and in two digits.

code 12 will flash twice as a heads up and then the fault
code(s)

14 Engine temp high
15 engine temp low
21 Throttle position High
22 Throttle position low
24 output speed low
28 Pressure Switch manifold
39 TCC Stuck off (slip)
53 System High Voltage
58 Transmission temp high
59 Transmission tem low
68 Overdrive ration fault
73 Force motor current out of spec
75 System volts low
81 Quad driver/Shift solenoid B fault
82 Quad driver Shift solenoid A fault
83 Quad driver TCC faulty voltage
85 undefined ration input to output (slip)
86 Shift solenoid B stuck on
87 Shift solenoid B stuck off.

All codes can be cleared by holding A8 to ground for 10seconds

Best wishes Alex P–

Hi , just to update you all on what I found. I removed TCM as this
required a extra wire to be added to pin A8 of the TCM. I then run
this wire to the boot and refitted the module and trim. This then
enabled me to read error codes and clear stored errors without
removing any trim etc. I then jacked up the car and removed the
multiplug from the gearbox and cleaned the pins and refitted the
plug. I then disconected the black 20way multiplug in the car that
is the other end of the gearbox loom and measured the resistance of
the two speed sensors. The output sensor was perfect reading 1.4K
ohms but the input sensors was reading 300k ohms so is the cause of
the fault. I had the input sensor also fail on my 1995 XJR about 3
years ago and cost 48 +vat but now in the UK they want 100 +vat
what a rip off ! . I have ordered a pair from the USA as they use
the gearbox in many models and for a pair of sensors it will be
$29.95 + $20 shipping . The only problem being I need the part to
use the car by the 25th of July to go to a XJS CLUB stand at
Silverstone in the UK so just hope it comes quick. Does any members
have a spare sensor I could borrow untill my parts come as a back
up plan ? This is for the GM 4L80E gear box. Thanks–
