YIKES!!! When I got the hoses off and inspected those fuel injector
barbs, I found out the several people before me (and likely before
Dan) did not cut those hoses off with anywhere near as much care as
I employed. Maybe it was one person several times. At any rate each
one had several gouges in them. With all the warnings posted hear
about leak channels I cannot beleive that any of them held
pressure. I deburred them and polished them up a bit, but man! If I
had not seen 10 of the 12 holding fuel under pressure with my own
eyes before I removed them I would not have beleived it to look at
them! I guess the moral of the story is dont sweat a teeny tiny
nick because the design is apparently quite robust and able to
overcome a lot of mistreatment thankfully.–

When I bought the Mercedes FI hose that I used recently at the local independent MB specialist shop, a technician told me not to worry about small nicks. There are 3 or 4 barbs there, full circumference, and the hose fits tight, particularly the MB hose which at 7.5 mm is slightly smaller than the jag 's approximate 7.9 mm.
I was careful but unavoidably scuffed some barbs a bit when I removed the old hardened hose, and I have no leaks.
