I replaced the front speakers in my 1996 XJS.
Even though the originals were 5-1/4, I want to tell you
that I was able to fit a 6-1/2 Alpine SPS610 speaker.
What you’ll need to know is that the speaker hole can handle
a speaker requiring something no greater than a 5’’ cutout.
The hole is a 5’’ diameter, so although I was able to fit a
6.5’’ Alpine speaker, not all 6.5’’ speakers will fit.
Check that cutout dimension. Make sure it is less than 5’’.
Not sure if a 5’’ would fit. The Alpine is a 4-15/16’’
cutout.
Don’t worry about depth. They won’t make a car speaker deep
enough to not fit.–
