Could somebody tell me were I can find the wiring diagram for the 2
green plugs behind the throttle tower I broke a black wire with
sheilding and tryed to solder it togeather and now the car wont
even fire It looks like a small cable tv wire and im guessing It
needs to be spliced better
Any ideas would be great–

Assuming this is similar to my 89 Marelli:
Probably one of the following, both of which would cause a No Start.
The wire for the rear crank sensor. Can you trace it back to
a ‘‘fuel injector’’ looking plug that goes down along the side of the
bellhousing?
The wire that connects the FI ECU and the Ignition ECU runs thru
the harness right there also. (I know… why wouldn’t this be in
the car more between the ECUs?? Must be a production line thing,
that was the easiest place to make that connection…)
Both of these have a small center conductor which carries the
signal and a braided sheild which connects to chassis ground.
I have spliced them successfully, so it can be done if you are
careful. I have also extended them with small coax cable, but it
is not really made for the hot engine compartment environment.

Whoops, missed one… the wire for the front crank sensor runs thru
there too on its way to a plug up near the oil fill cap. Looks the
same as the other two…–

I had it running and then put the wires back in place and now it
wont start again Does the braid off the black wire serve any
purpose as I’ve neglected it on my new splice ? 92 Marelli–

Thanks for the reply I had the car running but I found another
yellow and white wire off in the same area
*Sorry, I am going to be useless when it comes to wire colors…I
don’t recall the specifics from mine, might need to check the ROM
I soldered them back togeather but now the car wont start Would
the braid on the black wire need to be used I spliced a regular
wire in with no braid Does the sheild act as a ground?
*Yes the shield needs to be spliced too. It is the ground. You
can just use a small piece of wire to jump the gap in the shield if
you need to, keep it as short as possible.
Another point is the black braided wire is spliced into 2 wires off
the plug It did run like that so Im thinking its correct I have
spark but it smells very rich when Im cranking it over
Not sure what you mean 'zactly… The crank sensors are the male
side, they will appear to be a single black wire into a male plug,
but the plug has 2 pins one being the center conductor and the
other the shield. The female side will have two wires running
right to the plug, looks like a fuel injector connector. Hope that
helps.

I spliced back into the braid of the black wire and the car runs It
smoked lots from both exhaust and the only the right side Could
this all be ecu issues I have an ff13 code and the check engine
light is on but I’ve played around so much under the hood it may be
a fault I’ve caused The smokes seems more white then blue black so
Im thinking anti freeze but the level seems fine
