[xj-s] Re: Electric Rear Window Motor failure

Gary, are your talking about the side trim piece that goes from the floor to
the rear window? If so, then on my '92 it just a matter of removing the
small plastic (oh what do you call them) ‘screw’(?). It is on the outside,
you have to lower the rear window to get to it. (of course you will probably
have the top down anyway) On my car, that piece is missing on the drivers
side and the whole trim panel just pulls straight up, well you kind of have
to push it forward a little also. Since that piece is already missing on my
car, and I haven’t tried to pull out the other side, I can’t be sure there
isn’t any other fastners that are holding that piece in place.

Hope this helps a little.

I have a related question. My rear window motors work fine. However, I
would> like to remove the rear trim panels to access the speakers, and also to
clean out debris that may have fallen or blown into the opening. I cannot
figure out how to do this! I would imagine that those who have RnR’d their
motors have removed these panels. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
