my 1988 XJSC has an original electronic security system.
There is a red button and toggle switch under the dash. The
radio has a security light on it and reads CODE when turned
on. The remote FOB seems to do nothing. The alarm wires
are disconnected. When connected they alarm and you can
push the red button to turn off or to turn back on. Does
anyone know anything about the original electronic security.

car was originally purchased and spoke with a service guy
that was there in 1988…he said the security system was a
aftermarket thing and to disconnect. Jen–

As you may or may not know, the security code and red light
on the radio have nothing to do with the car alarm/security
system. You will need to get the radio security code to
enable radio. If you give your VIN to Coventry West, or
perhaps some others, they will be able to get the security
for your radio for you. You could ask a Jaguar dealer, but
don’t expect much, if anything from them, except to pay for
it, if they offer any help at all. The Jag dealers aren’t
interested in supporting their older products, they want to
sell you a new one.–
