Didn’t find where I had posted this question on here (did on
a generalist forum). Here goes: What kind of ‘tune-up’
would you do on a 1994 XJS 4.0l with unknown maintenance
history?
Went to the Jag dealership and apparently the original owner
used them for the first ~50K miles until trading it in in
2001. The second owner (I appear to be #3) did not use the
dealer for service. So I’m not sure what has been done to
the car in the last ten years.
Here’s what I have so far?
Oil and filter (takes 9 or 9.5 Qts right?)
Air Cleaner (might as well)
Bleed brakes (current fluid is something just short of
shiner bock) (inspect the rotors and pads - the do feel a
bit spongey but work)
Plugs (haven’t pulled, should I do it before I decide or
just go ahead and do it)
Plug wires, rotor cap, rotor, coil - all appear to be fine,
are any of these considered preventative to replace?
On reading through here it appears I should replace the fuel
lines under the bonnet (can someone link the ones I need
privately or on the thread?)
At some point I’ll probably do the ATF fluid and filter.
What else?
TIA,
Tony–
