Den - I don’t recall how I removed the little sock filter
but I also don’t recall it being much of a task. When I
got my car twelve years ago, both tanks had quite a bit of
rust in them so I flushed them and added inline filters
between the tanks and the changeover valve. They needed to
be replaced rather frequently at the outset, but now I
replace them every 6,000 miles, or so.

Hi Dennis,
The filter is a firm push fit. It’s a while since I last did t
did this job but I seem to remember I couldn’t pull them out w
out with my fingers. I used a pair of long point nose plier
pliers to grip.
It might help to give the filter a twist back and forth too to w
to work it loose.
Regards,
Andy–

Yes, it just pulls off - it is a nylon mesh filter than can be cleaned and
pushed back on to the pick-up pipe.
