[xj] Transcucer wiring question

Well it seems that maybe my transducer is failing again. Have
replaced the original with a good new (supposably). Someone told
me before I buy a new one to check the wiring from where the
connector runs back to the vehicle. By the way where do the wires
run too? It semms my person said their may be a relay that the
wires run to and to check that. Your thoughts and help would be
greatly appreciated.

JR:

Try captainjaguarscathouse on the web. Has great schematics for
these cars.

If no luck, contact me off list and I’ll scan a page from my S57
book of S3 schematics.

HI JR…

As best I can recall, there isn’t a relay that directly affects the
transducer…
The wiring harness is a short one, with the connection near the
front of the gear selector… It connects to the lead coming from
the neutral safety switch…

I can probably get you of photo of the routing of the harness if
you need it, which will definetly be of more help than the
schematic…

Just email me, david@everydayxj.com

No relays, JR…

Connected at the transducer; a green wire, 12V with ignition on -
going to the speedo ‘+’. A yellow wire between the transducer and the
speedo - appropriately connected at the speedo, of course…

The same coloured wires also serves the intrval counter if fitted - and
either the speedo, transducer or the interval counter may be used as an
interconnection point to save on wiring. In which case; two wires of the
same colour will be fitted to those points…
