And, am I correct that it’s probably a European model given the 7"
headlights, no sidemarker lights and position of the antenna?
very likely, since it also has the amber indicator lights at the back
and the chrome euro bumpers. The Kent alloys aren’t original tho
(should be (chromed) turbo’s)
This one has been waiting for you and it’s close to home as well:)–

Look at the grille, Larry, look at the grille!
It’s a Daimler Double Six no less.

I can’t make out the side emblem and it might indeed be a Daimler, but
remember that in the US, Daimler is Mercedes so the Double-Six wasn’t
offered here. The fluted grill was used on the Jaguar XJ VDP instead, as
one more VDP ‘upgrade.’
Not sure if this applies to SII, but definitely to SIII.

Listers:
Is anyone familiar with this particular car being offered on ebay?
Mark:
The Series III Jaguars did not have the fluted grille. That use of the
Daimler trim for Jaguars came during the Series IV era and later. Even the
Jaguar V12 cars that really WERE Daimler Double Sixes (like my 1992 car
whose build record lists it as a Daimler, and which even has some Daimler
items in it), have the exterior Jaguar trim, smooth grille and rear
plinth…

There wasn’t a VDP offered in SII, and SIII VDPs don’t have a fluted
grille.
It has all the signs of being a Euro-spec import, or at least someone
went to some effort to convert to that. The headlamps, taillamps, lack
of side marker lights, euro bumpers, fluted grille, fluted boot plinth,
Damler decals on the valve covers, etc. are all indications of a
standard Euro-spec D66.===================================================

G’day Mark,
If you have to look at the badge you have never seen a
Daimler:). If this car isn’t a Daimler Double Six then I’m George
Bush. The photos aren’t very clear but by supersizing and saving to my
computer and zooming in (Win XP) I can definitely make out the Daimler
decal on the camshaft cover, and the Double Six badge on the boot lid.
Other Daimler clues are the fluted plinth over the rear number plate
and the chrome strip on the top of the bonnet.
