There’s no easy fix. It’s not the glue that hasn’t held, the foam has
disintegrated. Check the model pages and archives for the procedure to
replace the headliner. It’s not hard. Do it yourself or have it done for
about $200.

my new baby has developed a ‘droopy headliner’ problem, does anyone know
of an easy fix? thanks
You will probably want to sign up for the XJ40 forum. It is specific to your
car. Most of the info on this forum stops around 87 for XJ-6s.
To fix the headliner, the board behind the headliner is removed and
recovered, then re-installed. There is a description of how to do this in
the archives if you wish to do a search. The easy fix is to pay an upholstry
shop a lot of money.

In reply to a message from sabby sent Tue 5 Oct 2004:
I have the same problem on my 78, there is plenty information
available on this site about replacing it. I can send some over,
just give me your e-mail. The job is not that difficult.
