[xj40] Blown fuse display on VCM

About several months ago, when returning home, I received the “blown fuse”
(lightning bolt)
on the display. I continued on home and turned off the car. When restarting
the “lightning bolt”
was no longer displayed.

Yesterday it came on again and has stayed on. The VCM showed the fuse box on
the RH side.
I pulled all the fuses and none are blown. Where do I look next as a
starting point?

I will probably take this to a repair center (when I find one I feel has
some knowledge of a Jaguar)
but I wanted to be able to point them in a general direction.

Thanks

Did you test the fuses for continuity with a tester or, at the very
least, the old ‘‘battery and bulb’’ rig? Fuses often look ‘‘good’’ but
are in fact blown. Been there, got the T-shirt…–

Rats! Hit ‘Post reply’ before I was done…

Sometimes the wiring behind the fuse box(es) can be suspect.
Normally all it takes is a re-soldering job. If that’s required,
remember, it’s always worth removing the old solder with a sucker
or braid rather than re-flowing what’s there.

If you’re not confident about any of that, you won’t need a Jaguar
specialist: anyone even half-competent in general
electrics/electronics should be able to do this in their sleep.–
