Mine first showed code E-06, then after switch off and
removing/replacing the CD cassette it showed E-02, then I removed and
replaced the cassette without switching off and it shows E-01.
And of course it doesn’t play or make any ‘moving cassettes’ noise when
I select CD.
The radio FM/AM/LW and tape cassettes work and play normally.
Searching the archives I saw that there was an EE-01 code mention and an
Er-05. The only E-01 I saw was asking the question but I didn’t seem
able to find an answer or follow up. (maybe an off-list reply:(

I’d bet a pound to a penny that a part of the mechanism is
stuck somewhere. Open it up and have a good ferret around.
Have an assistant operate the unit in its nude state and
observe. It should immediately become obvious what’s stuck.
My money’s on either a gear missing a tooth or one which has
popped off its spline. If it’s simply stuck, there’s a
special oil/used on these plastic parts (they’re almost
certain to be plastic gears, etc, rather than anything more
substantial) but I can’t recall the name. I’m sure a good
audio shop, Radio Shack, etc will know and stock it.
Right away you’re thinking, ‘‘Is he mad?’’ but what’s to lose?
It doesn’t work at the moment so the potential benefits
outweigh the risk in my view.
As a last resort, there are a gazillion compatible units
flying around eBay every day.–
