[xj40] Flat spot when cold

Before I had my starting problem 3 weeks ago this was NOT a problem.
Since then I have replaced everything in the spark side and I have
replaced the fuel pressure regulator.

NOW…I have a flat spot the first time I start the car. I start it
at the top of the driveway then it idles as I back down the drive to
the street. (about 15 seconds) then after getting to the street I
put it in drive and start forward (approximately 30 seconds after I
started it). As I pull away I get about 2 seconds of normal
acceleration then a flat spot for about 1 second then it accelerates
again. Its almost like the hesitation of a gear shift, but more, and
before the first shift anyway. And it only does it once, the first
run of the day. If it was a carbrueted car I would say the choke
needed adjustment. But it has never done this before. The ambient
temp is about 80F degrees, up 2 degrees from a nightly low of 78F
degrees. So its not really cold. I am concerned that it might become
a problem in the future as it has never done this before.

Any idea what could cause such a flat spot? Maybe one of the new components?–

This is a common symptom of an improper activation of the EGR
valve, you may want to look at it and the sensor. The valve may
have a sticking pintle.–
